Mowing Sod
Mowing newly laid sod is an important component of encouraging lateral growth through rhizomes.
Mowing Tips
Newly laid sod should be mowed once the underlying surface is firm enough to support it and should not be prolonged to the point where significant scalping can occur. Initial mowing should be at a 3 inch mowing height. As temperatures moderate in the fall the mowing height can be lowered to a 2 ½ inch height, mowing frequently enough to prevent from removing more than 1/3rd of the leaf blade at any one time.
